A paper stamp can't prove itself. A SIGN stamp can.
When you stamp a document with SIGN, it can carry a verification reference and QR code. Anyone who receives that document — a bank, an employer, an embassy — can check it themselves:
- They visit the public verification page and re-upload the document they received.
- SIGN computes the document's fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash) and compares it with the one recorded when it was stamped. If even one character changed, the fingerprint won't match.
- They see the certifier's name and the date of certification — confirming who stamped it, when, and that the document has not been altered since.
Every verification-enabled stamp is also an entry in your automatic certification register — a running record of your attestations that you can export at any time. SIGN records the metadata and the fingerprint, never the document's contents.

What you should know before relying on SIGN
We would rather tell you the limits up front than let you find them out later.
Will everyone accept a digitally applied stamp?
No — and we won't pretend otherwise. Acceptance of digitally applied stamps and signatures depends on the receiving institution and on the law of the relevant jurisdiction. Some institutions accept them readily; others still require wet-ink originals for certain document types. If in doubt, check with the receiving party before certifying digitally.
Does SIGN change my professional responsibility?
No. SIGN is a tool for applying your stamps and recording your certifications. You remain fully responsible for every attestation you make — for sighting originals where required, for the truth of what your stamp asserts, and for complying with the rules of your profession and jurisdiction.
What does SIGN store about my documents?
For self-stamping, your PDF is processed in the browser on your own device and is not uploaded. When you enable verification for a stamped document, SIGN stores certification metadata — your name, the date, the verification reference — and the document's SHA-256 fingerprint. SIGN does not store the document's contents.
What does the verification check actually prove?
It confirms that a document with exactly this fingerprint was stamped by the named certifier on the recorded date, and that the copy being checked is byte-for-byte unaltered since stamping. It does not, by itself, prove the underlying facts the certification asserts — that remains the certifier's professional judgement.
Can I get my certification history out?
Yes. Your certification register belongs to you. On Pro and Firm plans you can export it as CSV at any time.
